Here at Groovy Chicks and Pirate Ships we have spent the past ten years creating children's entertainment options for Adelaide parents that rival the best in Australia.

Party Hosting Team

Our team of vibrant and highly talented party staff are carefully chosen and undergo a month long training program before they are allowed to host a Groovy Chicks party. This means you are guaranteed to have a vibrant and skilled host for your party. Many of our hosting staff are university students from diverse backgrounds ranging from teaching or child care, to acting, psychology, medicine and even accounting! Whatever their academic background, all our hosts share the same love of children and are all bubbly, friendly and energetic people. We also employ some fantastic junior staff as extra party helpers at our venue - so there are never a shortage of hands to help with the running of your party.

Party Co-ordinator and Office Manager

When you call or email us, you will likely be communicating with our office whiz, Anthea, who will be able to answer any questions you may have and organise everything needed for your party. Once booked in, she will print your personalised party invitations and have these sent to you - generally all within 24 hours. Anthea is also the dedicated costume extraordinaire behind many of our children's dress ups and host costumes!

How Groovy Chicks and Pirate Ships began...

Hi there! I’m Kate Fisher, director of Groovy Chicks and Pirate Ships and I'd love to welcome you all to this site. I first got involved in this business when i was 18 years old, beginning as a party host while studying at uni, and a month before my 20th birthday I took it over from the original owners.

At the time the business was running only a few parties a weekend in people's homes around Adelaide, and without even a phone number in the white pages, generating enough money to keep the business going was challenging to say the least! Despite lack of funding, I was passionate about opening a kids party venue where a child's imagination could truly come alive and their party could become a very special memory.

It took a number of years to build the business to a point where opening a venue would be possible and in early 2005 I began hunting for a party venue premises. After many months I finally found a location that could work: an old house that was a commercial property on South Road in Mile End. Although it was much smaller than what I had hoped, with a limited budget I had to make it work! And so, I set to work with the help of a few close friends and family turning the old bedrooms into beautiful party rooms.

After a seemingly endless number of seven day work weeks spent designing, painting and building, in August 2006 the first Groovy Chicks and Pirate Ships party venue was opened!

The response was wonderful, and I can not thank our Adelaide customers enough for the support over the years. I'm positive our party rooms are the most elaborate in Adelaide, however our rooms are quite small (with space for a maximum of 15 children) and consequently our customers have been limited in the size of parties they can have.

So now, nearly four years on, I am pleased to be hunting for a bigger and better venue location! One that will offer much more spacious party rooms, a larger parents area and hopefully a much bigger kitchen to allow us to offer a wider range of catering choices.

I feel blessed that I enjoy such a challenging and rewarding job and I realise none of this would have been possible without the wonderful support of all of you - our customers who continue to return to us year after year! I thank you all for allowing us to share in all your special celebrations and letting us get to know your amazing children. I look forward to seeing you all at a Groovy Chicks party soon.
